Baltic amber (40-50 MYO) - an orb-weaving spider (Araneidae, Araneus defunctus Petrunkevitch) Holotypus, originally uploaded by leth.damgaard.
Have had the opportunity to visit the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen and photograph some of their pieces from their collection - in the future I will regularly upload these images. All these images are registered with the Zoological Museum registration code (ZMUC-9xxxxx).
Holotypus/Holotype = Taxonomy the single specimen designated as the type of a species by the original author at the time the species name and description was published - the piece is very oxidised so it was very difficult to make these images..
